Seaman's Adventures if proud to announce that it has recently been certified under a new program -- Adventure Green Alaska (AGA) -- for its efforts in support of sustainable tourism. AGA is a certification program for Alaska tourism businesses that meet specific standards for economic, environmental, and social sustainability. As described by AGA, "sustainable tourism" may be defined as travel to natural areas that is beneficial to local economies, respectful of the environment, and sensitive to indigenous cultures.
Seaman's Adventures has been reviewed against criteria related to its support of local communities and economies, the environment, climate change, and Alaska history and culture. For more information about the program, visit the website for Adventure Green Alaska.
Starting this season, Seaman's Adventure will be partnering with the Renewable Energy Alaska Project and Bonneville Environmental Foundation to offer visitors the opportunity to office their carbon impact of their visit. Visitors will have an opportunity to purchase of Denali Green Tags. These funds will go directly to support new wind and solar projects that contribute renewable energy to the nations power grid. Portions of the revenues will also be reinvested in Alaska to help fund renewable energy projects. More details will be added in the near future.
